The Met's Decision to Arrest a Gang of Five
In the 24 hours after Stephen Lawrence's murder police received no less than 26 anonymous tip-offs. Most of these tips were phone calls saying there are a group of five lads in their teens about 16, 17 that were known for carrying knives being super racist and terrorizing the neighborhood. Despite this no arrests were made. The Met also defend this bizarre decision by arguing that the Acort brothers Dobson, Norris and Knight were juveniles so to arrest them with no real evidence was a very risky move.
