Capitalism yields just a different kind of slavery, so that you get alienated from your work. And we can point to a way in which you would have an authentic life that was founded in freedom. But in the presence of capitalism, you become merely a cog in yet another kind of slave. The spectacle is just the most refined version of getting the most number of people into slavery.
