So far, at least the official government view has not abandoned its notion. What I'm clearly most worried about is Taiwan. It's hard to imagine they're going to separate US-China relations from those global issues. All this strategic opportunity concept tells us that even though they may not have a grand fixed strategy, but there is a strategic logic behind it. Ultimately, they want to match the means in a most effective way to achieve what they want - and that is the rise.
