The Taiwan Policy Act and Strategic Clarity
The Taiwan Policy Act was advanced by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee back in September. It included giving Taiwan the benefit of being a major non-Nato ally, which would have been a huge step away from the One China policy. Senator Rand Paul warned that such support for Taiwan and President Biden's recent pledges to defend the island could make war more likely.
