The Origins of Altruism

Miranda Africa looks at the different ways of interpreting altruism. Hume thought that most virtues, in fact, were what he class as natural virtues. He was just thinking of what comes naturally to most human beings. Miranda: Any emotional response to a wrong counts as a genuine moral response. It needs to be corrected for certain two biases of what he called proximity - and they're corrected by reason and imagination.
