The land is reportedly worth more than $8 billion, making it the second most valuable piece of real estate not developed for housing behind Central Park in New York City. An $8 billion assessed value would typically mean hundreds of millions of dollars in property taxes alone. LACC got lucky with two laws that were passed in the 1960s and 1970s.
