I like Anne and Wentworth's whole deal as a structure for a novel because they had a falling out in their early 20s or when she she was 19 I guess. And then the book is about them overcoming all of that romantic grief and finding a way back to each other. That is more interesting to me than another grumpy guy who's not looking for love but then finds it anyway. Oh yeah you got to bring them down to earth. You know teach them the true meaning of love kind of thing.
