The Importance of Poetry in the Sudanese Youth Movement
Despite an effort of social engineering over 30 years by a radical Islamist regime, it was quite uplifting to see that youth found ways of having cultural saloons underground. The Poetessary Bahamad Ali is really a hero in the eyes of Sudanese youth movement. He has not been on national TV or national radio, but he has been invited around by groups of young people. These regimes couldn't even recognize that this is something threatening, because these were people reading poetry.
