How to Make a Good Melody
Raydow: I want students playing patterns or entire melodies, not just one note within that pattern. Playing ostinati on instruments is definitely a go-to with that. And then finally, improvisation and composition. Raydow: One of the hardest things I ever ask my students to do is improvise melodically, vocally. It has to be in their head before it comes out at their voice.
