Hope, the Passion of the Rational Soul

Hope is the emotion that enables us to overcome difficulties to attain a perceived good. Daringness and courage are ordered towards what is good, to attaining it. Succumbing to an evil in order to avoid it is called despair. A man who does not know his limits is a very dangerous man - he usually looks really foolish too.
