red dawn was going to be a remake of a 19 eighties classic that went by the same title. The producers got nervous about portrayal of china as the enemy, because they'd loved to be ahota celdis movie in china too. So they switched it to north carea. Took hours upon hours of swapping out flags and military buttons and rewriting dialogue so that it referenced north korea instead of china. They changed the plot too. It's the last time that a major hollywood movie has been put into production with ch China as the bad guy.
