Hadrian's History of the Roman Empire

Hadrian was in mauritania when a brief rebellion broke out. He ordered that a defensive line be built facing into the atlas mountains. The nomads needed to periodically cross the roman frontier on their way to fresh water and pasture lands. Hadrian appears to have met in personal conference with the parthian king along the euphrates, and the two hammered out a deal that confirmed the river as the border between them.
