The Rekonkista

In the early 8th century, most of the Iberian Peninsula was occupied by Moors or Spanish Muslims. Around 718, a new movement came into being the Rekonkista or the reconquest or recapturing depending on how you translate it. And if you're wondering who's recapturing what, it was the Christians attempting to recapture the peninsulah from the Muslims.
