The game doesn't really give you a lot of guidance as far as like you learn best I think through experience when it comes to that. The base game is by and large the most cage matchy part so if you are just interested in that if you want to get to that as fast as possible get the root base game play it with a group of three friends and the four of you will relatively quickly get to that point.
