Hitchcock's the 29 Steps
Hitchcock handcuffed Madeleine Carroll to her co-star with cuffs that were purposely tight enough to cause her pain. He called the lead actress the Birmingham Tarte and said during an interview after the movie, nothing pleases me more than to knock the lady likeness out of them.
