The Origins of the Sauropods
A two-sentence passage in an obscure book by an obscure author didn't exactly set the world on fire. It had taken nearly 200 years for someone to read about these gigantic footsteps and conclude they belonged to a dinosaur. Most people who could have read Projart's book would have no idea that there were dinosaurs in the first place, at least not large land-dwelling quadruped like the sauropods. In 1905, the American Museum of Natural History unveiled the fossilized remains of what Marsh had incorrectly named Brontosaurus. The hunt was on to find more of them.
