Calls reporting domestic violence were up, but incidents of domestic violence were down. Miller considered two potential explanations for why there might be more calls but fewer crimes. One possibility is that many of those additional calls may have been coming from an increase in the crime reporting rates. And some of this may have come from people who are not victims or survivors being more likely to call the police - like nosy neighbors.
