The Voting Rights Act: A Case Study
CNN's John Sutter says he was shocked by the decision. He points out that Roberts has long been a supporter of the Voting Rights Act. The judge quotes an op-ed written by his own attorney general in the 1980s opposing amendments to the act, which would have made it harder for states to draw voting maps if they had a discriminatory impact on black voters.
