The Club of Rome was formed in 1971 to help solve the world's economic problems. The team at MIT came up with a plan for distributing future income and technologies more fairly across countries. Their proposal had profound implications, but how could rich nations be persuaded to follow such a path? It is our conclusion that the overwhelming task for the Club of Rome is to identify and to implement that set of policies which will permit us to negotiate an orderly transition to a stable world.
