The Crazy Rituals of the Mormon Church
The endowment ritual is not even close to the only Mormon ritual still performed to this day. Originally, this rite was meant to bring dead family members like parents and grandparents into the faith if they happened to die before they heard the good word of Joseph Smith. The church removed the penalties in 1990 along with a lot of the Masonic elements afterward of their creepy rituals.
