The Importance of Intellectual Life
Job laments because of his lack of philosophical understanding, writes Cursanities. The surest way for him to avoid misery in this life is to identify himself with that intellectual part of him that will survive, since it is already beyond the bodily realm. If our earthly lives consisted of nothing but pleasure and comfort, what reason would we have to turn towards our true happiness, which lies in intellectual perfection?
