Dean Karnasis came up behind AJW on a dirt road in 2004. He had no pacer headlamp, just two handhelds and a pair of shorts. "I was like, no freaking way Dean is going to beat me," says AJW. In 2005, he ended up getting second place at Western States; you were an age group winner.
