Is There a Mirror Image Protein That Will Do the Same Reaction?

If a mirror image protein does the same biochemical reaction and you want to, if you can somehow get that made or introduce it into an organism, then rather than getting turned over, it might hang around for longer. This also comes up in a science fiction book that I've read. And there, it is very important that some food is from the D, an antima, and so you cannot get calories from it, but you can just get the taste. You need a mirror image tongue to do it.
