Did a Submarine Fight a U Boat?

In 19 forty three, a submarine fought a u boat and the submarine one really hige. That would ave been a cmpletely ordinary thing to happen in 90, forty threethat's not the best fact you've ever had. How did they shoot it? Like torpedoes wouldn't go in the air, right? Or the account is quite vague on the on the method used. It wasn't, i'm sure it wasn't a torpedo.
