The most exciting discovery would be finding not only that there is life on mars, but that it is undeniably alien. It's so fundamentally differet from ine molecular mechanisms of how it works,. We'd have something to compare ourselves to and how our celvs work. Because by doing that, we'd read an enormous amount about ourselves. And therefore learn a lot about our place this cosmos and just how diverse life in the galaxy might be.
