Mail bandits hid with their loot for a few days after they train ambush. By the time police had discovered Leather Slade Farm, the robbers and the money were long gone. Reporters thronged to cover the story - BBC's Reginald Abus among them. In the end, almost all the robbers were caught. Ronald Biggs was the last man to surrender in 2001. But most of the money was never recovered.
