Is a Op to Null Allele Maintaining a Op to in Nature?
The fitness effect of the A op to null allele appears positive at the beginning because the plants, they're growing rapidly. Insect abundances are low. But then the insects sounds like they really come on and their population sizes increase. And so in the end, that ends up being harmful to the plants. It's likely due to the fact that there is a more diverse herbivore community than just these aphids on A op to. Do you know anything about heterozygotes? Is there an advantage or could you foresee some advantage?
