The Contingent Factors That Are Necessary to a More Normalized Succession Process in an Authoritarian Political System

There was some sense of almost teleological inevitability of the party having now become a snowball, you know, rolling down a hill towards normalization of politics. Now it feels very like in retrospect, very contingent on core elements that required at least a few core elements to be present. And once those elements were erode, then it seems now that perhaps some of the assumptions that were being made 10 years ago were totally incorrect.
