He says he had vivid dreams as a kid but was told by his parents that they were just "dreams" And then in medical school, some great mentors offered him an opportunity to stay into a PhD with Dr. Sally Temple of neuro stem cell research - she won a MacArthur award for her work. The path from there on could be a really long one; it's not like med school where you get your MD and pass at the end.
