Eiger's strategy was to buy Fox assets and bulk up for what he saw as the coming war with Netflix for global domination in streaming. If Disney essentially backs away from the kinds of stuff that Fox makes, it would be a huge retreat. It doesn't make sense from a long term growth perspective, right?
