The Sahel: A New Version of Post-Colonialism
Niger was essentially what the last semi-functioning democracy in that region of West Africa without President Bizoum. The problem is now that the military coups occur across the Sahel because there's nothing to stop it, says Michael Kofman. There's a sense that this is all a new version of post-colonialism, he adds.
