Hethema was a full time army officer in 19 95, but she didn't realize she was a lesbian until she met ashley. When the danta sant hal policy was introduced by president bill clinton in 19 93, it represented a huge step forward. Hethema: For the us Military, it is right because it provides greater protection to those who happen to be homosexual and want to serve their country honorably in uniform. It's kind of hard to hide your emotions when you're seeing your baby on the altra sound absolutely and we didn't want to risk that.
