The Effects of a Sad Story in Politics
The presence of an actual person to to testify makes you empathize more. Just giving them a sad story in general does not do it, right? You might feel sorry for them, but you don't respect them more when it comes to politics and it regarding the question of whether it should happen to you or just, you know, a story you heard. Our study suggests that it's more powerful when it happens to you because people can doubt it less.
