The Importance of Dimensions in Space

If you have a space which has more dimensions than three, then the number of functions in that space is huge by comparison with the number of components. So this was a reason why I didn't like the idea of more dimensions of space than we seem to see because that means that the functions in thatspace will completely swamp what we see. And so why don't we have all these degrees of freedom, completely swamping everything, flooding the whole space and that would ruin the whole physics?
