Damascus Steel

Ancient Damascus steel was made from 600 AD to about 1750 AD. It's derived from a specific source of steel from India called WOTZ, or boots. The people who were making it may not have known all they knew at like a molecular level. In the 1990s researchers basically figured out how to make Damascus steel.
