The Paradigm of Variable Gene Expression
The genetic distance between humans and chimpanzees or bonobos is on the order of 1 to 5%. In comparison, the difference between common mouse and rat species ranges from 20 to 50%. So that's how we found for instance the 4-head box P2 gene which in times of excessive scientific and media exuberance has been described as the gene for language. But it emphatically is not because no such thing exists but is very much involved in some of the brain structure and function attributes that facilitate language.
