Employees at a Bay Area chain say they aren't allowed to try to stop anyone from shoplifting. The policy came about after the store was sued for racially profiling a shopper, and that is an issue. A private security guard who has to remain anonymous says his gear is mostly just to act as a deterrent. It's more geared towards violent crimes like armed robberies or, you know, those kinds of things.
