The Importance of the Church in a Democracy

I'm just curious, maybe from your point of view, is there a way the church can work with the state or not? Well, Paul says, you know, be all things to all people. So if you're in a system that's run by the God of demos, try to work with people where their religious framework is. Do it need to be a Christian president? Does there need to be? I have a hard time kind of figuring out.
