The author's students launched Rent the Runway, now a $900 million startup. The founders were not fashion industry veterans; one was an investment banker. Jack Dorsey starting Twitter needed some concept which he had and someone who could engineer it to work at small volumes. You need good enough design to go along with a good idea but you don't need domain expertise.
