Central bank was afraid of Facebook and Libra, they might have been also afraid of China is also developing very quickly CBDCs. If cash disappears, basically citizens lose access to public money. Normal citizens don't really care about the difference between private and public money that much. You can reduce potentially friction in the financial system through closer to instance settlement. There are a lot of concerns to ask yourself, well, would that really be delivered through a CBDC? But when we think conceptually what a CBDC might do, that's one motivation.
