The Importance of Rousseau's Ideas

In reality the impact of Rousseau is pretty limited but he is widely read and enthusiastically applied by a few individuals. There's lots of entertaining stories really about aristocratic parents in the 18th century being completely slavish in their devotion to Rousseau.
