The Role of Internationalization in Higher Education
Tom Brotherhood and Chris Hammond: Is there a different normative agenda in Japan when it comes to internationalization than that which is implied in Jane Knight's definition? That's a fantastic question, I think. And one that we are trying to engage with along with a number of other researchers. The idea of global league tables or global rankings inherently impose a standardized template of the Anglo-American research-intensive university as the basis of judgment. This will inherently norm out these other models that may have existed in Japan or China.
