Long COVID
One idea to account for at least some cases of long COVID is that there may be dormant viruses lingering in the body and they're being reawakened by a preceding coronavirus infection. What possible culprits that are being considered include viruses like EBV, the Epstein-Barr virus which is more commonly known as the virus that causes Galangila fever. Warwick University virologist Lawrence Young has been looking at this.
