The Matrix

In 19 99, a movie called the matrix was released. In it, billions of people are grown in pods filled with some sort of amneotic fluid. They live out their simulated lives in a very similar world to ours at the beginning of the 20 first century. The overwhelming majority of them go their entire lives never knowing that the whole thing has been a simulation. You can imagine coming to believe in any number of stories that give you answers about what your purpose is. Only to get disappointed and persist on living this life for another day.
