The Great Revolutionary Challenge in the Austrian Empire
Medernik made Austria a base for foreign interventions to suppress rebellions and mutinies. In 1848 an uprising broke out in Vienna, with street demonstrations demanding reforms. Reformist ideas included giving local deets around the empire the power to approve or reject taxes. Some of these proposals were circulated among secret societies and underground reading groups within the empire.
