The four thousand pound explosives were nicknamed block busters for their ability to level anything within a 200 foot radius, or about the size of a city block. Tens of thousands of thermite incendiaries, just four pounds each, pelted the city like rain. There are no eye witness accounts that can describe this process up close, because if you were close enough to see it, you were already dead.
