Augustine's Metaphorical City of God

Augustine tried to map out the origins of Christianity and his titular city of God in the very earliest Hebrew scriptures. What we see is predictably Christian exegesis or Christian revisionism of the Bible's oldest stories, he says. Augustine interprets a long monologue by Hannah minutely in one of the longest chapters of the city of God. He finds the Psalms to be rife with opportunities for pinpointing passages for telling the coming of Christianity.
