In the nineteenth century, there was a big political movement that had begun among women for their rights. And so these were people who were challenging gender norms very strongly. So i was curious to know what doctors did when they were faced with the fact that biology is blurry. Then i got into contemporary intersex treatment, and that led me into bioethics by accident. I'm really a historian who does patient advocacy work sometimes.
