The Evolution of the Federal Minimum Wage
New deal in 1938 instituted the first federal minimum wage law. In 1966, Congress creates a thing called tip credit for tipped workers. The federal minimum wage for what is called a tipped employee is right now $2.13 per hour. Knowles Point: Some restaurants don't accept tips and are usually higher end.
