The Core Common Criteria for a KD Diagnosis
Kawasaki disease is a clinical diagnosis, so we are looking for the clinical signs of KD. If you have four out of those five, you kind of go, okay, that's Kawasaki disease unless I find something else that I think is causing this, right? The only thing that sometimes gets a little tricky is if you've got a child who's shocky in the ICU and you're worried about toxic shock syndrome. This is where the American Heart Association has a pretty good algorithm that looks at labs.
